Lynne Mayer has been painting since the age of 5. She says, “Painting is fun, stress releasing, and taps into our creative mind. For me, creativity is the very essence of God and truly lets me feel Love. I have a great passion for art and enjoy guiding others into finding their creative side through the joy of painting.”

Lynne brought her talents to Tennessee in 1993, where she has taught numerous classes and workshops in oil painting, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, and encaustics. She currently teaches basic art classes and encaustics in her private studios at her home in Whitwell, Tennessee. (Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, is an ancient technique which involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added.)

Lynne believes in continuous learning when it comes to her art. She has learned techniques in various mediums from some of the Tennessee Valley’s most well-known artists: Acrylics with Sandra Painter Washburn, pastels with Paula Ford, acrylic collage with Ann Bagby, and watercolor with world-renowned watercolorist, Cheng-Khee Chee. She has also studied plein air oils at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, MA, with Hilda Neily, encaustics on Amelia Island and in Rochester NY with Linda Robertson, oil landscape and still life with Christopher Groves, and transparent oils with Dreama Tolle Perry in Fraysinnet, France. Among her fondest memories is painting plein air in Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France.

Lynne is a member of Mountain Art Guild, Inc. on Signal Mountain, Tennessee Watercolor Society and Civic Arts League of Chattanooga.
