Cindy has been a member of the Civic Arts League since Spring of 2016. After enjoying a career path with many twists and turns … working in television production & marketing with WRCB-TV, public television fund raising with WTCI, and most recently as a Realtor … Cindy discovered her ability as an artist and her love of painting about the time she retired from the corporate world. She says she’s always learning and experimenting, and that her style is evolving with each new work.

The daughter of a United States Air Force pilot, Cindy spent portions of her childhood in Europe and Japan. These early influences can be seen in several of her paintings. Cindy attended Middle Tennessee State University as a Music Education major, later transferring to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she earned a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Music Education.

Cindy’s decision to study music throughout her academic years, rather than art, came as a result of discouraging remarks from a well-intentioned elementary school art teacher. Cindy jokes that this is probably the reason she never even attempted to try any “visual medium” until much later in life. Lesson learned:  It’s never too late to try something new!

Cindy’s other activities include playing the clarinet in the Mid-South Symphonic Band, a Chattanooga/North Georgia community concert band made up of amateur musicians of all ages from all walks of life.
